MY FAVORITE PC GAME

Activity # 18 (Miguel Paz)
PC Games. I’ve been living with them since I graduated from pre-school. They have their advantages and disadvantages. Did you get that? No? Well, me neither! But what matters the most is that you enjoy them, not abuse them. PC Games have this “thing” which makes you addicted to it. I don’t really know what that would be, but I can say that I’ve been affected with it. PC Games made me socially confident (Although I sometimes become one of the bad guys in those games >:))
Virtual games affect the brain greatly. They are great nuisances to our lives. According to Tracy McVeigh, this is the main problem with PC games:

Computer games are creating a dumbed-down generation of children far more disposed to violence than their parents, according to a controversial new study.

The tendency to lose control is not due to children absorbing the aggression involved in the computer game itself, as previous researchers have suggested, but rather to the damage done by stunting the developing mind.

I personally think that’s not true. I still believe that our generation can make a change, even with these mind-distracting games.

Continuing on to my favorite games…

Since I am a gamer, I'll give you a list of my four best played games. Here it is, starting from the last:
  1. Dragon saga
  2. Flyff
  3. Dragon Nest
  4. Grand Chase
Here are other games I have played:
  • Ran Online
  •  Perfect world
  • Jade Dynasty
  • Club Audition
  • High Street 5
  • Dragon Oath
  • Cabal
  • Free Jack
  • Godswar Online
  • Grand Fantasia
  • Holy Beast Online
  • Ragnarok Online

HS2 Computer Class

Activity # 17 (Miguel Paz)

This year’s class was held by Sir Ruel Carballo, the school’s very own Prefect of Discipline. For the first time, I get to have Sir Ruel as my teacher. Not just an ordinary teacher, but a teacher of one my favorite subjects, COMPUTER. Before I tackle further about the CLASS, let me give you a brief description about our teacher.
Sir Ruel is one of the best teachers here in school.

According to my research, he is a father of three children — two sons and a daughter. He is the husband of our former teacher in Music. I can’t believe I’m saying this but Sir Ruel is very much similar to my father. He actually looks like him! Their actions, their looks, their humor, pretty much everything. I consider our computer teacher as “The Father of Bloomfield Academy” because he is LEGENDARY!

Proceeding to our Computer class…

If I could describe the class in a word, it would be COOL. That’s pretty vague so let me break it down. Our computer lab is cool, as in COLD. I barely move whenever in the lab! Our class is cool in a way that it’s AWESOME. Being with people very close to you, having Sir Ruel as the teacher, the very subject itself, just… AWESOME.
The last thing I’d be saying is, “This is one heck of a trip!”

MY FAVORITE FOOD

Activity# 16 (Miguel Paz)

Food is the best thing there is. It’s what makes most of us. Food makes us better, energizes us. I can never imagine a world without food, a world of hunger and famine. If there ever was such a thing, THERE WOULDN’T BE! God gave us an abundant supply of food and never will we be hungry because HE LOVES US.

Many creative and cool people have invented different recipes for different kinds of food. Some are common, some are exotic. Foods differ in every country, which makes them unique. And can you believe that food is also a good way of communication and courting? Some people show their sympathy towards others through food. Food connects people and brings them together.

Food might be the answer to the world’s worst problem, misunderstanding. My mother once had an argument with my father. She made him his favorite food and that was the only thing she needed to calm him down. That was one of the best stories my mother has shared with us, it was simple but had a good morale in it: small things can make a big difference.

Moving on with the introduction and to my personal interests…

I, myself, am a certified FOOD LOVER! I love food, that’s all I can say. In my family, I am considered as the most “gluttonous”since I eat the most among us. Every dinner, the minimum cups of rice I’ll be eating would be two. I’ve never eaten supper with less than two cups of rice. I could settle with a small amount of viand, but I’d never settle with just a cup of rice. The only bad thing about my eating habit is it’s reversed. We have this saying that, “eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a beggar.” With me, it’s all the way around. I eat breakfast like a beggar, and sometimes I never eat at all, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a king.

Among all the foods served in different countries, what I like the most are the Filipino and Caribbean cuisines. Local foods are the best ones — adobo, sinigang, tinola. These are considered as some of the Philippines’ most famous food, even tourists find them tasty. What tops my list is a Caribbean one, which is why I included Caribbean cuisines into my favorite foods.

If chicken curry is what first came into your mind when you heard the phrase, “Caribbean cuisine,” then you are awesome have good taste. Chicken curry tops my list of favorite foods. You ask why? The first time I saw it, I was disgusted, but when my parents encouraged me to try and taste it, what the heck. The time it touched my tongue, I thought to myself, “Oh boy! I can’t believe I wasted a lot of time searching for better foods, when the best ones are just around me.”
I learned a great lesson from here: “Never judge food by its looks!”

MY FAVORITE SPORT

Activity # 15 (Miguel Paz)

Sports play an important role in our life. It helps maintain internal balance. It makes us physically and mentally stronger. Sports help make our circle of friends bigger. Simply, sports are one of the reasons why life becomes good.

Lots of sports have already been discovered — throwing random stuff, hitting things, even moving the body uniquely is considered a sport already. I, myself, am not really inclined to these kinds of stuff. And besides, I like keeping a low profile, even though I can’t.

Anyways, the reason why I never liked sports was because I am afraid of LOSING. This is one of my greatest pet peeves, LOSING. I’m not used to this stuff because I always join activities which involve my fortes.

Recently, one of the physical activities I’m best at became a sport. Before, every time I was asked, “what is your favorite sport?” I’d answer swimming since that was the only sport I knew, even though I never am good at swimming. Now, whenever I am asked, I’d have the answer and I can proudly say, “Dancing. Dancing is my favorite sport.”

Many would say that I was born with this talent because when I was a child, I’d always join activities which involve dancing. As of now, I can groove to the beat of ballroom, folk and pop, but I know deep inside that I will be better in this sport and I’ll certainly learn more about it. Who knows, I might be one of the greatest athletes in the field of dance.
Many of my dancing friends encouraged me and introduced me to a new sport, and that is volleyball. By the time I knew that dancing was a sport, I became confident to try new ones, and since this one seems something light, I thought, what the heck! It’s a fresh start to the world of sports and this wouldn’t harm me, just my studies!

Some might doubt my manliness, I say I have freedom. And besides, I choose to love these as a man.

“Sports do not build character, they reveal it.”

LOVE…

Activity # 14 (Miguel Paz)

Love… a word with a wide variety of definitions. The most common and at the same time, the most complicated word there is. Generally, it means a deep, passionate affection with another. Some say love is freedom, others say that love means “togetherness,” but what does love truly mean? What is the closest definition associated to it?

Actually, everything said above is true. Defining love really depends on how the person looks at it — love among friends (philos), love between two different genders (eros), and the greatest love of all, love of God (agape).

Love is that “grumbling” feeling you get inside you, often known as, “butterflies in the stomach.” Love is that feeling that numbs your senses whenever close to your loved ones. Love is a disease that directly strikes you in the heart. Loving people is also a decision; it can be unconditional or selfish.

Every time I am asked what the word ‘love’ means, my mind blackens and all I get to say is, “huh?” Maybe because I’ve never understood what it truly means. Children of my age always think that their crushes and their boyfriends/girlfriends would be their “true love,” and some mature people think that loving someone at an early age is vain. To tell you the truth, they are both correct and wrong at the same time. Only time judges whether these are correct.

“Love can be of many definitions, it just depends on how you look at it.”

SUMMER 2012

Activity #13 (Miguel Paz)
At last! The most waited time of the year, summer. I’ve been waiting ten, long months for this time of the year. Everyone’s crazy and heating up for this summer — getting distracted at school, poor performances at work — the effect of the “golden age.”
Getting prepared for summer is the worst thing there is. You don’t know where to go, what to do, so you end up at home watching TV, playing computer, sleeping. It’s just like college; you wouldn’t enjoy it if you didn’t prepare for it earlier. Although, the best people out there know how to make their summer spontaneous and memorable at the same time. Unfortunately, I’m not one of them.
Moving on to my plans for this summer…
Every year, I always thought of joining a sports workshop, like for swimming or dancing — but nothing happens. I always end up staying at home, staring blankly at people who make their summer productive and thinks about how they can brag about it once June comes in again.
Nevertheless, I never let my summer stay that way. I always make sure that even once; I could make my summer fun, thanks to my family — going outdoors, swimming, and hanging out with my friends and cousins make that possible. These times may not be that memorable to others, but these are moments that I can cherish for a lifetime for they are the reason that my summer becomes EXTRAORDINARY.
“Live life to the fullest.”

MY DREAM

 Activity # 12 (Miguel Paz)
dream
People have their own dreams. Some have big dreams, and some have short-term dreams. They have their crushes, their goals in life, their philosophies and whatnot. I have dreams of my own — dreams that are so near, and yet so far, reachable dreams and impossible dreams. Dreams makes us more motivated in life, more active, better. They are possibilities, yet they may fail.

I had my dream of becoming a renowned superstar when I was a child. I used to sing and dance in front of a mirror with the remote on my hands as the microphone. I also dreamt to be a doctor, a fireman and a carpenter. I even had the most bizarre dreams when I was a child. I dreamt I was a robot, had super powers, and such, but life as a kid is different with life now. Before, we had this amazing imagination of what would become of ourselves.

Life changes every day. It becomes a reality. I think of my past dreams as forgotten because they are so impossible to achieve nowadays — knowing about the news, life in school, and others. They make us more aware that those dreams we had were worthless because our life ahead is better. A life more possible, a life we can live, a fruitful future.

As an adult, I dream to be an engineer or an architect. I want to build a house for myself. A house built and designed by me. That is my ultimate goal. I also dream to be rich, to be one of the world’s richest bachelors.

“We all have dreams. They only become possible if we never stop believing.”
